The DVNEF-MX as with other VNswitches, you instantly get line-rate Layer 2 switching, Layer 3 IP routing, and seamless integration of Ethernet, Fast Ethernet, FDDI, and ATM across a high-speed backplane. Truly designed as a multi-layer switch, the VNswitch 900 family delivers integral 100,000 pps Layer 3 IP routing, along with concurrent line-rate Layer 2 switching. This eliminates the need for additional, expensive routing hardware and reduces the load that's typically placed on centralized routing resources.
