The 9A128-01 ATM Access Module for Cabletron's MMAC-Plus allows you to connect an external ATM network to one of the two FDDI networks on the hub's Flexible Network Bus (FNB) backplane.
External connections are made via a front panel, 155 Mbps SONET ATM interface using Multimode Fiber (MMF) via SC connectors. The ATM Access Module can be used to aggregate FNB traffic to an ATM backbone, or provide connectivity between ATM workstations and traditional LAN users. The ATM Access Module is fully compatible with all ATM forum specifications, including the UNI Signaling and LAN Emulation. It acts as an ATM Forum LAN Emulation Client (LEC), allowing Ethernet, Token Ring and FDDI users to access an ATM backbone. The ATM Access Module is capable of supporting bridging or Cabletron's SecureFast Switching.
