The 9T122-24 is designed to provide desktop connectivity to two Token Rings networks on a single module. The module complies with the IEEE 802.5 standard and is fully IBM Token Ring compatible. The 9T122-24 features two seperate 12-port active Token Ring Concentrators which use standard RJ45 connectors that support either UTP or STP lobe wiring. Active ports provide greater network reliability by extending lobe cable distances, reducing jitter build up and protecting against beaconing and speed fault conditions. Both rings interconnect across the SmartSwitch 9000 chassis' Flexible Network Bus (FNB), a dual 100 Mbs FDDI backplane, via an Intel i960 RISC-based processor capable of supporting Source Route Transparent bridging, routing or SecureFast Packet Switching. Connection to the SmartSwitch 9000 backplane can be configured for FNB-1 or FNB-2.
